The SSME - Space Shuttle Main Engine was a reusable and very reliable liquid propellant rocket engine. Interchangeable engine components could be installed on any shuttle orbiters. Upon liftoff, three main engines on the space shuttle generated equal thrust to five 747 jumbo jets, burning all of the fuel in approximately 8 minutes. This SSME from has components that have flown in a handful of shuttle missions.
